dear hurricane katrina,
about 5 years ago you had us all in a tizzy. wondering where you were going to hit and when. i was midway through my first job out of college. i had just moved home and was attempting to settle in. august 28th we packed up and headed to mccomb, then alexandria. meanwhile, somewhere in texas, a man i never knew watched the news. you hit the city of new orleans on august 29th and caused more havoc than any individual could imagine. still, somewhere in texas, a man i never knew followed the news. we finally moved back home on october 23rd. somewhere in texas, the havoc you wrecked on new orleans pulled at a man's heart. pulled on his heart enough that he decided to move to new orleans 2 weeks before the 1 years anniversary of you hitting the city. he wanted to help. he wanted to make a difference. and a bit over a year after the hell that we all went to, i met someone. i met this man from texas and he pulled at my heartstrings. pulled at my heartstrings enough to make him my finace' 3 years later. so with that, i thank you for what you did, even if it is because it brought my future husband to town to stay.
nola love & mine,
ashlee
